Guest Teachers

Lotus In the Desert Meditation Group is pleased to announce the arrival of Bhante Punna Akurugoda to Las Vegas, and as a guest teacher for our sangha. Bhante Punna is a Theravadan monk from Sri Lanka. He was ordained in 1983 and has extensive teaching experience in the United States and abroad. Bhante has been busy expanding the Blue Lotus Temple in various parts of the U.S., and he is here to work with the Blue Lotus Insight Meditation Group to help establish a center in Las Vegas. Bhante Punna has graciously agreed to lead the Lotus in the Desert Group on the First and Third Sunday of every month, as well as various sites around Las Vegas.

Sangha meetings with Bhante Punna will begin Sunday, January 17, 2010. On the meeting days that we host Bhante Punna, we will continue with our regular schedule: Mindful Movement (3:45 pm), Siting meditation (4:20 pm), dharma talk and discussion (4:50 pm), and announcements and closing (5:20 pm). The Mindful Movement part of the meeting will be lead by one of the sangha members and includes gentle yoga, stretching, walking meditation, or Chi Kung.
